Detox with Cannabis Marijuana Doctors

If the year 2020 was a holiday ornament, it would probably resemble a train wreck. Would you agree? No one could have predicted the impact that a virus would have on the economy. On day-to-day life for every American, and worldwide.

So, if you are like most of us, you are probably celebrating the end of a difficult year. And for some families, that also means grieving the loss of close friends or relatives to the Covid-19 virus. In 2020 hindsight, this may have been the hardest year for everyone.

With 2021 just a few days away, it is a good time to enjoy your holiday vacation. You may not be getting together with a large group of friends or family, because of social distancing precautions. That means you will have even more time on your hands to relax and unwind.

If you are enjoying your holiday staycation and want to detox some of the stress and negative emotions you may be feeling because of the pandemic, we have seven great suggestions for you. While cannabis has high medicinal potential for patients, one consistency across all strains is the feeling of stress relief.  Relaxation and freedom from anxiety.

Use this time to detox the year 2020 and reset your mojo with these suggestions from our team at Marijuana Doctors and MDPrime.

1.  Off-Road With a Psychedelic Cannabis Strain

Oh, the weather outside is frightful. But your stash is so delightful. You’ve done the grocery shopping, presents are wrapped, and now it’s time for you to play your official relax and recharge. That can mean using cannabis to create a cheerful, happy, energetic, and creative mood. Or the state where your couch is as far as you want to go for about three hours, while you watch a movie.

If you have had your medical card for a while, you’ve gone through the process of finding a few favorite strains. Different strains have unique psychoactive properties and effects. As well as unique terpene and cannabinoid combinations that help with symptom management.

Let’s assume that during a normal week, you have your daytime favorites.  And a strain or two that you prefer at night, to help you sleep better. If you have a few days off over the holiday season, you may want to “off-road” with a type of cannabis that you have never tried.

Some strains of cannabis can create psychedelic effects.  Not as severe as drugs like psilocybin (magic mushrooms) or other illicit drugs you may have tried in college. If you are having a hard time shrugging off stress, a psychedelic strain of cannabis might work. And give you the relaxation and reprieve you need to reset your emotional barometer.

On the spectrum of possible psychedelic effects, cannabis strains like Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) or Ghost OG. If you can find the illusive Kilimanjaro strain, it is worth the trip. Literally.

2. Plan a Cannabis-Infused 2020 Holiday Menu

For legal purposes, we need to remind our readers that creating edibles or a THC-infused meal when you do not live in a recreational state?  That’s asking for big legal trouble. So, don’t do it. But if you are lucky enough to live in a state where adult-use is legalized, you can host a gourmet cannabis-infused holiday feast. For a few friends or for yourself.

How comfortable are you in the kitchen? We’ve provided instructions for patients to learn how to decarboxylate cannabis to prepare it for cooking edibles.  After you have your decarboxylated cannabis ready to go, you can create almost any recipe with a little extra kick.

3. Try Baking While You Are Baked

You are by yourself and your house or apartment is full of great groceries.  And you may be bored out of your mind. Pandemic holiday’s stink.  Let’s hope we never have another one. Ever. But you have to make the best of things, so how are you going to occupy yourself?  By turning on VICE and watching a few episodes of BONG Appetite!

Or you can head to the VICE website and try not to drool, while you browse all the really great dessert recipes. Because munchies, right?  We did some of the hard work for you. Check out our staff picks for the best cannabis-infused desserts on VICE and some other food blogs we enjoy.

Assuming that you are going to be at a higher level of relaxation over the holidays, measure twice. Baking is a science and baking while baked can be a challenge. But also, a lot of fun.  And if you want to bogart your goodies, just do not tell anyone you are doing mad science in the kitchen.

4. Watch Some Funny (Or Trippy) Movies

Ever watch some movies and just know that they were “made by stoners for stoners?”. You are not imagining it. Although production companies are mum on admitting that some scripts are deliberately written to be funnier when high. And so are the scenes.

Do not believe us? Try watching one of those same movies when you are stone-cold sober.  Meh. There are many great movies that you can find on Netflix or Hulu that fit the category of hilarious or ‘trippy’ when high.  We asked our team and here are some of the movies they suggested.

a) Pineapple Express starring: Seth Rogen, James Franco, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez, Danny McBride.

b) Inception starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Elliot Page.

c) The Matrix Trilogy.  We know. Been there, done that. But you really do see more easter eggs and things revealed each time you watch.  Starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Ann Moss, and Hugo Weaving.

d) Dazed and Confused. Again, this classic you have probably watched more than a few times. So, consider it a nostalgic holiday tradition. Starring Jason London, Wiley Wiggins, Matthew McConaughey, and Milla Jovovich.

If you are missing the opportunity to watch movies with your friends, geek out and get on Zoom or Facetime them while you get your Netflix and chill on.  The best part of your friends joining you by Zoom. They are not going to munch on everything in your kitchen.

5. Detox from 2020 and Get Outside for Some Natural Terpenes

You just smoked some really good terpenes, and you are feeling pretty relaxed.  But did you know that walking outside (near trees) can give you an additional healthy boost? There is a reason why you feel energized and relaxed after a hike, a run, or dog walk in your local park.

Every living plant emits terpenes. Just like cannabis does. And they have wellness benefits. For more information on how terpenes provide an aromatherapy benefit, check out this article on our blog. You will feel better. Sleep better. And your dog may like you even more if you bring him along.

We all learned a thing or two in 2020 about strength and adversity. Here’s hoping the new year brings a happier and healthier outcome for all.
