marijuana news round-up

Ready for your marijuana news this week? Getting smokable cannabis just got a lot harder in Florida. After recently legalizing bud, Florida takes a major step backward and adds a lot of red tape for patients and physicians. Fetty Wap designed a new app game that allows players to earn crypto growing virtual weed.

Also, have you wondered what would happen if federal legalization of cannabis actually happens this year? This and more on your marijuana news round-up for the week ending July 23rd, 2021.

Fetty Wap Launches Crypto Coin Generating Cannabis-Grow Op Game

Who doesn’t talk about crypto these days? It’s not just Bitcoin anymore. There are so many different choices like Dogecoin and Ethereum (two of Elon Musk’s favorites). Ripple, Litecoin, Neo, Cardano, the list goes on. And people would do just about anything to earn some bitcoin in an affordable way.

If earning crypto coin is fun? Even better. That’s why there are games that allow you to earn crypto simply by playing. And Fetty Wap (Willie Junior Maxwell II) has launched a new game that is like the “Farmville of Weed”. It’s called Grow.House and players can generate crypto coins playing the cannabis farming game.

Grow.House also allows players to join online communities within the game. You can also create your own communities and collaborate with other players. The challenge is to crossbreed hybrid plants, run your cultivation business, and unlock super rare strains.

What Would Federal Legalization of Cannabis Change in the United States?

Amazon would start selling cannabis? It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds because national e-commerce would be a reality after federal legalization. Recent comments from the House Majority Leader Chuck Schumer indicate that the nationwide legalization is a probability, not just a possibility.

The MORE Act contains legislation that helps rectify some of the damage done to specific segments and communities in the United States. Specifically, social equity directives will help undo or offer reparation to communities disproportionately impacted by the “War on Drugs”. Including mass expungement and early release for Americans incarcerated for personal-use cannabis ‘crimes’.

How will federal legalization change business for MSOs (multi-state operators) in terms of competition? It will both grow their market to a national level, and increase the number of SMEs and entrepreneurs that enter the cultivation, processing and retail sales arena. Would more competition be a good or a bad thing for patients?

Now Florida has some significant concerns about smokable marijuana. Some new procedures for doctors that refer a patient to OMMU, the Office of Medical Marijuana Use, are more complicated.

In the past, certified Florida doctors were able to complete marijuana card health evaluations through telemedicine. Since June of 2021, telemedicine is no longer permitted.

Doctors are now required to meet in person with patients. On multiple occasions, so that there is an established relationship between the doctor and patient before the medical card application is prepared.
