This week in marijuana news, MariMed celebrated “National Brownie Day” in a (really) big way. They created what may be the world’s largest THC-baked edible. What would you do with an 850 lb. magic brownie, anyhow?

We share some expert tips on storing your cannabis. While long-term storage of bud isn’t a problem for most people, if you are new to home cultivating, we have some expert advice. And if the busy and bustle of December have got you feeling stressed, check out our suggestions for creating the perfect weekend smoke sesh.

Is the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency finally softening its stance on cannabis? A new proposal could mean breaking down the wall that has been stopping medical cannabis research in America. An important step toward decriminalizing and possibly federally legalizing cannabis.

All this and more on our December 10, 2021 round-up of marijuana news from MarijuanaDoctors.com.

Cannabis Research DEA

White House and DEA Breaking Down the Barriers to Cannabis Research

The battle between medical researchers and the federal government to research cannabis has been going on for decades. On one side, the federal government has said ‘no’ to legalization. They have stated that there is not enough clinical research to know if cannabis is safe.

What the federal government really wants is evidence-based facts. Studies from the United States are scant on cannabis. And that is because of the web of administrative red tape that researchers have to cut through to even get cannabis to study.

So, the government wants the research but makes it difficult, if not impossible, to get approved for clinical studies. And getting funding to research a Schedule 1 drug? Good luck with that. But thankfully, that seems to be changing.

Both the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the White House have made some regulatory changes that could open up more clinical studies. Not just on cannabis but also psychedelics like ketamine and psilocybin for mental health treatments.

MariMed Brownie

Marijuana News: MariMed in Massachusetts Celebrates National Brownie Day in a Big Way

Wednesday was “National Brownie Day,” and the cannabis memes were off the hook. But one multistate operator (MSO), MariMed, made a huge impression. They baked the largest brownie anyone has ever seen.

The cannabis-infused brownie weighed in at 850 lbs and measured 3 ft. x 3 ft. square. It was baked to celebrate the launch of MariMed’s new two-bite infused brownie edible. And according to statements from MariMed, the brownie is going to one undisclosed patient who purchased it.

How-To Store Cannabis

Store Your Cannabis The Right Way: And Watch for Mold

When food goes bad in your fridge, you see mold. But, if you forgot a package of cheese in a ziplock, it’s easy to see that mold. On cannabis bud, the mold can be microscopic, and you might not see it at all. It wouldn’t be such a big deal if mold weren’t really bad for your health. When digested, small amounts of mold are neutralized by saliva and stomach acids. But when you inhale them on a smokable product, it can be a health risk. You can experience coughing and nausea, and for immune-compromised patients, the symptoms can be life-threatening.

You want to store your cannabis the right way. It doesn’t have to be in a fancy, expensive container. But there are a few tricks to keeping your cannabis fresh and sticky. And one product we love that can help balance the humidity inside your storage container. Helping to keep it fresh and stop mold from growing on your bud.
